Consumer Spotlight: Joshua

With assistance from UCPGB’s Employment Services Program, Joshua was able to get a job that he truly enjoys.  Joshua’s UCPGB Employment Specialist worked with him and his parents to discover an appropriate job for him.  It was decided that Joshua would do a great job either delivering things (in an office-like setting) or assisting customers in finding things (in a store-like setting).  His Employment Specialist located him a job assisting customers in a store, and provided him with on-the-job training.

Joshua works as a Front Service Clerk at Publix Super Market in Vestavia Hills.  He travels throughout the store (utilizing his power wheelchair) greeting customers and assisting them in locating items they wish to purchase.  Joshua’s job is a “Win-Win” situation for both himself and his employer. It matches Joshua’s kind, friendly personality and his ability to find his way around quickly, with the store’s need to help customers locate items they want in a fast, friendly manner.
